Deutsche Telekom said its 5G coverage is now available to 97 percent of the population of Germany. This comes after the operator expanded mobile phone coverage at 676 locations over the past four weeks as of July 23. This includes the construction of 96 new sites, equipped with 4G and 5G frequencies. At 500 existing sites, capacity enhancements were made, with 5G being introduced at 91 locations for the first time.

5G Coverage on the 3.6 GHz Frequency
On the high-speed 3.6 GHz frequency, around 12,150 5G antennas are now operational in over 920 cities and municipalities, offering download speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. As a result, 97 percent of households can now access Telekom's 5G network, while 4G coverage reaches 99 percent of households.

Milestones for Nationwide Coverage
"We bring the net to where the people are. Ninety-seven percent of the population can now use Telekom's 5G network. This is another important milestone for us, because the last percentage points are the most difficult," says Telekom Deutschland. "This progress brings us closer to our goal of supplying 99 percent of people nationwide with 5G by the end of 2025."
