D2h and Dish TV are constantly offering new long-term recharge options to both the existing and deactive subscribers. As part of its new 'Loyalty ki Royalty' offer, D2h is offering up to 30 days of extra service applicable for both active and deactive subscribers (up to 30 days). Very recently, we have reported the same LTR offers of Dish TV and the new D2h offer is also pretty much the same. Several DTH subscribers did not recharge their account for a long period and the new long-term recharge options are aimed at those subscribers. At the same time, D2h is looking to lock-in subscribers for up to one year or six months or three months with these recharge options. Notably, Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV are also providing up to 30 days of extra service on long-term recharges.
D2h Announces Long-Term Recharge Options for Deactive Subscribers
Dish TV India (along with D2h) used to be the leading DTH operator in India till Q1 2019. However, Tata Sky with its impressive customer support and a wide range of channel packs dethroned Dish TV from the top spot in Q2 2019. Tata Skys is now the top-most DTH operator in India right now with a subscriber base of just over 25 million. To regain the lost place, Dish TV and D2h are trying their best to add new customers on board. The operators are also looking to retain the existing user base by providing such long-term recharge options.
Earlier, D2h used to provide up to 55 days of extra service on a long-term recharge of 55 months. However, the company has revised its offering now with a new one called 'Loyalty ki Royalty.' Notably, both Dish TV and D2h are providing the same LTR offers right now.
As part of its new Loyalty ki Royalty offer, D2h subscribers can get seven days of free service on recharging the same channel pack for three months. Furthermore, D2h is offering 15 days and 30 days of extra service on six months and 12 months recharges, respectively. D2h also says the new offers are applicable for the active subscribers and also the deactive subscribers who did not perform a recharge in their account over the last 30 days. If you're a D2h subscriber without recharging the account for more than 30 days, then you're out of luck as these offers will not be applicable.
As noted, Dish TV India also has similar offers, but the company is providing one free STB swap option to the customers who choose the 12 months recharge option. Dish TV is not providing its LTR options for deactive subscribers though.
D2h Yet to Launch Android TV-Based Set-Top Box
In other news, D2h is lagging behind other operators in the Set-Top Box department. Dish TV India also launched Dish SMRT Hub Hybrid Set-Top Box to the customers last month and it runs Android TV out of the box. Dish SMRT Hub converges Satellite TV and OTT content along with a single voice-enabled remote. D2h may also come up with some similar, but right now, the operator lags behind Dish TV and Airtel Digital TV which has Airtel Xstream Box. D2h is rumoured to be working on an Android TV-enabled hybrid box, but the details are under the wraps for now.
