Telenor, partners withdraw payments bank plans

Telenor upgrades its network sites in six operating circles

As a part of its network modernization program, Telenor India has announced the modernization of 10,000 network sites in all its six operating circles. After launching 4G service in Varanasi, Telenor India has now added Visakhapatnam - Andhra Pradesh as its second city for 4G services. Telenor India posts huge operating loss, seeks spectrum at reasonable rates to continue operations

Telenor India has posted huge operating loss at NOK 3100 million in the first quarter, due to NOK 2.9 billion in impairment and write-down, the company said, and threatened to exit the Indian market if it fails to get spectrum at reasonable rates. Telenor India says 11% of its employees are female

Telenor said that its women employee base has increased more than 100% across functions like network operations, product development, sales and distribution and social media. The telco now has over 11% female employees, against industry average is pegged at less than 3%. The company has also focused on hiring differently-abled people.
