State-owned telecom operator, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has come up with a new 'KOOL' offer for its prepaid subscribers in the country. Under the new KOOL offer, BSNL is offering unlimited voice calls including roaming calls and 100 SMS per day. This plan costs Rs 1,099 and also gives unlimited data benefit without any daily or monthly FUP limit. And all these plan benefits are valid for 84 days from the date of recharge. BSNL says it's offering all these benefits at just Rs 13 per day. And the plan is valid across pan-India where BSNL has its services, excluding Mumbai and Delhi. Also, the same tariff plan provides free PRBT (Personalised Ring Back Tone) to the customers for the entire validity period.
This is one of the best-prepaid tariff plans from the government-owned telco in recent times. But sadly, BSNL prepaid customers will be able to enjoy data benefits in just 3G and not 4G unlike other prepaid tariff plans from other telcos such as Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular.
However, BSNL has started 4G operations in five regions of Kerala circle. We're not sure whether BSNL users in the said circle can recharge the new KOOL offer and enjoy data benefit in 4G. As far as we know, customers can enjoy 4G network with the same 3G SIM card in those regions. So maybe they can enjoy data benefit in 4G. Also, BSNL 4G is offering download speeds of more than 50 Mbps.
This new offer from BSNL takes on the rival telecom operators such as Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Jio, and Idea Cellular. But BSNL is taking the war to a new level by offering benefits at just Rs 13 per day. Also, the unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit is icing on the cake.
BSNL may not extend its 4G coverage to other circles anytime soon, at least customers in other circles should not expect the 4G service rollout until next spectrum auction. BSNL is seeking for additional spectrum from the government to expand the coverage. But for now, BSNL is offering 4G services in Kerala on 2100 MHz spectrum.
