BSNL reduces discount on broadband bill for Central/State Government and PSU employees from 10% to 5%

BSNL thee largest PSU who is hard at work reshuffling all its products and services across the country, has cut down on its philanthropy with discounts offered to Central government, State government and Public sector unit employees on their DSL, Wi-Max and FTTH broadband bills.

Before 2013 BSNL used to offer 20% discount on the broadband bill amount. From 30th September 2013 this discount was cut down 20% to 10%. Now the discount has further been reduced to 5%. The changed discounted tariff will come into effect from 1st October 2015.

BSNL has registered a profit of Rs.486 Crore in Kerala circle in financial year 2014-15 which is higher than the profits registered in FY 2013-14 of Rs. 411 crore and in FY 2012-13  of Rs.287  crore. Kerala continues to remain a profitable circle for the PSU though the company is struggling on a Pan India scale.

We recently reported that BSNL will be replacing EvDO data cards in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab circles with 3G data cards free of cost, since they have surrendered one CDMA carrier in these circles which has affected its subscribers.

Great move by. The 5% discount should also be banned. I’m using BSNL BB for 5+ years and no I don’t get any discount nor I want. Look at few people’s mentality .. they are going to hang up their connection just for mere Rs. 150 / 75 / 35 Rs. discount they are not getting. What a shame ! They are using this connection because they are getting this very cheap. If any govt. employee want to move to Airtel … go ahead. If possible also seek a job there to become one of Airtel’s employee as they are… Read more »

BSNL has gone mad!! Government employees are using BSNL because of this discount… Now many people will give up BSNL broadband… Airtel has good offers than BSNL these days… BSNL is just looking for short time gain… In the long run, this will prove to be disaster for BSNL… In the middle, they provided great offers… So, they got more customers… Now, they’re again increasing the prices, again the customer count will begin to fall… Especially, during the rise of 4G, such stupid ideas of BSNL will definitely push it into further loss…

Only bcoz of this discount many Govt employees took the BB connection with BSNL. Now they may re-think about continuation with BSNL. Its really a penny wise pound foolish decision at the long run. The company changing tariffs without any analysis, here everything is trail and error method only. For example in the case of GSM mobile they brought 6 month validity, the company lost more than 1.78 Cr customer in a single year. Now they validity period increased to one year and they also introduced 6 Year validity New Vasantham in TN and Chennai circles
