BSNL Offer Learn English Program In Association with OnMobileWorld’s 7th largest Telecommunications Company and India’s National Telecom Backbone Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today announced the launch of ‘Learn English’ a groundbreaking Value Added Service for its GSM mobile subscribers which will offer an opportunity to learn the language as per the user’s convenience.

To provide the service BSNL partnered with leading VAS content provider OnMobile and EnableM Technologies. It has designed a new mobile learning (m-learning) based ‘Learn English’ program with an aim to provide the user an opportunity to learn the English.

The BSNL-OnMobile tie-up claims that a recent study carried out by them revealed that 74% of the users of the service stated that the topics taught were relevant to their day to day life. 80% of the users said that they now use the words and phrases taught in the program

The “Learn English” VAS has been categorized into two levels, Basic and Advanced. It will also offer English lessons for various Professions, daily life situations and making conversations. The user has 9 languages to choose from as the language of instruction namely Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Telugu and Malayalam.

The ‘Learn English’ service will be available at a monthly subscription of Rs.20 and Voice Call Portal Browsing charge of 30 paisa per minute. To subscribe to the service BSNL users need to dial 1255537 from their mobile phone.

It is good idea of teaching English. I wish,of BSNL could add teaching Kannada too

Well teaching English is not equal to learning English …

So story telling wont make people powerful on spoken english …

@Gaurav I have been using the Learn English program since its launch to teach the same to a group of rural students in a far flung village in Maharashtra. Prior to this I had seen the program “English Seekho” of Tata Indicom. Comparing the two, I feel the Learn ENGLISH program of Enable M-BSNL-Onmobile is a far superior product as it is has everyday real-life situations of Eng learning and also teaches profession-specific English. The English teaching conversations are much longer and hence easy to grasp. My students have clearly voted in favour of Learn English and I too stand… Read more »
