Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched 35000 4G sites across India. The state-run telecom operator is eyeing to deploy 1 lakh such sites by mid-2025. In a statement, Jyotiraditya Scindia, India's union telecom minister, said that BSNL has so far launched 35000 4G sites. By June 2025, the company will reach its target of 1 lakh sites, the minister added.
BSNL also launched 4G at 14,500 feet in Phobrang, Ladakh, according to a report from IndiaTV. It is worth noting that Airtel became the first operator to launch 4G in this region. TelecomTalk couldn't independently verify the information shared by IndiaTV as the telecom department has not disclosed or shared any such information.

BSNL focuses on both rural and urban parts of the country. In another statement, Scindia said that in the last 100 days, more than 7000 mobile towers have been rolled out. This is covering villages as well. The government's 4G saturation project aims to bring high-speed internet connectivity everywhere for everyone.
Alongside this, private telecom operators including Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are also expanding their reach within rural India. Vodafone Idea will also follow up as its network upgrade and deployment efforts start in the next quarter. With the 1 lakh 4G towers, Scindia said that mobile services will improve and new services could also come.

To promote its 4G rollout, BSNL is also offering free 4G SIM upgrades. Existing users can visit the nearest BSNL offices to get a free 4G SIM. Along with that, the company is offering 4GB of bonus data on activation. New users can also get a free 4G SIM from BSNL. The efforts to launch 4G are underway by BSNL. Not just 4G, but also 5G.
