BSNL revises its Free WiFi plan now offers 30 min free usage

BSNL already offer free WiFi services at major Ghats of Varanasi and other locations in India. BSNL has now revised its free WiFi plans across PAN India offering more free minutes of WiFi usage.

BSNL has revised existing 20 minutes of free WiFi usage and now offer 30 minutes free WiFi a day, maximum 3 times a month.

BSNL is already in process of rolling out its WiFi hotspots at major locations across the country. Airtel – Vodafone Backed Firefly had launched its free WiFi service on Supreme Court Premises yesterday.

BSNL has already declared that it will be investing Rs. 7000 crore in setting up integrated 3G, 4G wifi hotspots across the country over the next 3 years. In south zone BSNL has awarded contract to QuadGen Wireless Solutions Pvt Ltd for setting up and operate Wi- Fi hotspots at public places in South zone.

BSNL has categorized WiFi hotspot into following 3 types

  • Small Hotspot: Cafe, Lounge, Food court etc, - 2 Mbps(dedicated)
  • Mid Size Hotspot: Malls, IT Parks, Resorts, Hospitals etc – 4 Mbps(dedicated)
  • Large Hotspot: Campus, Very large mall, uncovered broadband semi urban/rural areas – 10 Mbps(dedicated)

 

Reliance Jio also offer its free WiFi service in Kolkata city. In coming months we expect more WiFi services to be rolled out offering free WiFi for first time users.
