BSNL Revises Rs 699 Broadband Plan to Offer 5 Times More FUP

To better compete with the upcoming Reliance Jio GigaFiber which has been touted to become the biggest threat to other broadband players in the coming month, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-owned telco is constantly revising its broadband plans and is also introducing new plans in its portfolio. Currently, BSNL has revised its Rs 699 broadband plan, which remains valid in its Chennai circle to offer a massive 700GB benefit – an increase of five times when compared to the previous FUP limit. In other circles, the telco is offering plans like Rs 695 and Rs 799. Not only the FUP limit, the government led carrier has also upped the speed to 20Mbps from the previous speed of 10Mbps.

BSNL Rs 699 Broadband Plan Current Benefits

After the revision, BSNL is giving 700GB of FUP limit with 20 Mbps speeds. After the completion of FUP, users will still be able to surf the internet at 2 Mbps speeds, which will be good enough to stream YouTube videos at 720p quality. Earlier, the same plan offers broadband speeds of 10 Mbps, but it has now been increased to 20 Mbps to match rival broadband players.
Having said that, broadband speeds of the Rs 699 plan are still on the lower side, but the FUP limit increase comes as a blessing for the users in Chennai city.

BSNL Rs 699 Broadband Plan Also Offers Unlimited Voice Calling

One of the best aspects with BSNL broadband service is the fixed-line voice calling service it comes bundled with. And the Rs 699 plan is no exception. BSNL will also be giving unlimited voice calls to any network within India with this Rs 699 plan, much like other broadband plans from the Internet Service Provider.

BSNL Is Trying Hard to Compete With Rivals

In other news, BSNL is trying its best to stay in contention with private broadband players in the country. After the announcement of Jio GigaFiber high-speed internet service, most of the players lifted FUP limit on popular broadband plans, while some players increased speeds and FUP limits on the plans. In addition, popular players such as ACT Fibernet, Bharti Airtel, YOU Broadband are offering discounts up to 20% on yearly rental plans to lock-in the customer.

Reliance Jio GigaFiber to Offer Three Months of Free Service

While Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country are increasing FUP limit and speeds on broadband plans, Jio is gearing up for an intense battle. As per the information we received recently, Jio is looking to introduce a Preview offer dubbed as JioGigaFiber Preview offer, under which it will be providing free wired broadband service with 100 Mbps connection and 100GB data every month for the first three months.

Also, Jio will be introducing a new Data Top-Ups scheme, allowing users to top up their account and enjoy the uninterrupted high-speed internet. Jio will install the GigaFiber service based on the popularity of users in a particular location.
