Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Still Offering Rs 399 Postpaid Plan But With Reduced Benefits

A few months back, the telecom industry had a massive change wherein all the telecom operators made some significant revisions to their postpaid plans. While the prepaid plans were under reeling changes after the data tariff war, the postpaid plans were not changed as much. Since this wasn’t accurately reflective of the industry and the consumer behaviour, the telcos decided that they had to revamp their postpaid portfolios to bring a positive impact on their revenue. This was also a reason behind the ARPU, which is a key industry parameter and to increase that, the telecom operators only wanted to keep the high paying postpaid customers thereby bringing in the new postpaid portfolio for the telcos which came with mostly high-end plans only. The cheapest plan among all the postpaid plans available for all the telcos including Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea is the Rs 399 postpaid plan. However, there are somethings which are no more attractive about this postpaid plan. Here are the things that you should know.

Rs 399 Postpaid Plan: Cheapest One in Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Portfolio

On its main postpaid plan page, Vodafone has listed the Rs 399 postpaid plan under its RED banner, whereas, Bharti Airtel’s postpaid plan portfolio doesn’t mention the Rs 399 postpaid plan on the front. For Bharti Airtel customers, the Rs 399 postpaid plan is under the “other plans” section as it is only available for select circles. Airtel has noted that this plan is available in all the circles except Andhra Pradesh, Delhi/NCR, Karnataka, Chennai and Tamil Nadu. In this section, the telecom operator also has another plan which is available for Rs 349, and the availability of this plan is in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi/NCR, Chennai and Tamil Nadu only, but more on this plan later. First, we have to see what the Rs 399 postpaid plan has in store for its customers.

Rs 399 Postpaid Plan Benefits

Now being the cheapest postpaid plan in the portfolio, the Rs 399 postpaid plan is going to see some attraction from the customers, and it is worth noting that the plan ships 40GB data per month, along with the unlimited calling benefit. There is also the benefit of 20 SMS per day. Along with this, the subscribers will also get to enjoy ZEE5 membership, Airtel Xstream premium subscription and Handset protection plan as well. However, what this plan does not offer is the Amazon Prime benefit for an entire year.

Why Should You Rather Go For the Rs 499 Postpaid Plan?

As opposed to this, Bharti Airtel has the Rs 499 postpaid plan for its customers. Although the Rs 499 postpaid plan is only Rs 100 more than the Rs 399 plan, the benefits which it offers are likely to be more worthy for more customers. First, is the obvious data benefit, which is almost double at 75GB per month along with unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day. However, what sets this plan truly apart from the Rs 399 postpaid plan is the Amazon Prime and the Netflix benefit. With this plan, the subscribers get to enjoy three months of free Netflix subscription and a year of complimentary Amazon Prime subscription. This benefit is not available in the Rs 399 postpaid plan of Bharti Airtel.

Hence, with this being said, most customers will find that by paying a Rs 100 additional every month on their postpaid plan will they get not only more data but also they will receive benefits worth of Rs 999 in terms of Amazon Prime membership and also a free Netflix subscription for three months which would be a benefit worth Rs 1,000 or more. The same is true for the Vodafone postpaid portfolio as well, where the Amazon Prime membership benefit is not available for the Rs 399 postpaid plan, but it is there for the Rs 499 postpaid plan.
