Bharti Airtel, the second-largest telecom operator in India, said that it detected 51 million spam calls in Rajasthan. This data is just for the last 10 days. Along with the spam calls, Airtel also said that it detected 1.6 million spam SMSes in the region. The telco deployed its anti-spam AI solution on its mobile networks. This solution helps in identifying spam calls/fraud calls as and when they are made on the company's network. The beauty of the solution is that it doesn't cost anything extra to the customer but helps them identify whether the number they are receiving a call from is legit or not.

The telco has also shared stats for other regions such as Maharashtra, AP and Telangana. Bharti Airtel became the first telecom operator to implement such a solution on its networks for customers. It is also worth noting that after the announcement from Airtel, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) also announced that it is working on a similar solution.

Bharti Airtel wants its customers to stay safe from fraudulent calls. The company's CEO recently wrote to the customers and said that cybercrime often starts with a simple phone call or an SMS. If the customers are told in real-time that the number they are receiving a call or text from is likely suspicious, then the users can be more alert and avoid getting themselves trapped.
