Bharti Airtel Offers 140GB Data With its Rs 449 Prepaid Plan, Better Than Jio

Bharti Airtel has launched a Rs 449 prepaid to take on its rival and newcomer Reliance Jio. Under this new prepaid plan, Airtel is giving a total of 140GB data benefit, divided into 2GB data per day for 70 days. On the other hand, Reliance Jio is also offering a Rs 449 plan, under which it’s giving a total of 136GB data benefit, but the validity is way better than that of Airtel’s Rs 449 plan at 91 days. Airtel is looking to unify its prepaid tariff plan lineup by launching new plans every now and then, and this new plan is the addition to the company’s already existing 2GB daily data plans. Airtel already has a Rs 249 plan and Rs 499 plans under which it’s giving 2GB data per day for 28 days and 82 days respectively. Also, the Rs 449 prepaid plan from Airtel is an open market one, meaning it’s valid for every Airtel prepaid customer.

Bharti Airtel

Under this new prepaid plan, Airtel’s offering a total of 140GB for 70 days with the per GB value coming down to Rs 3.2. Airtel’s Rs 499 plan, in contrast, gives 2GB data per day for 82 days. As usual, there’s no limit for the voice calls usage though, unlike on Idea Cellular and Vodafone network. The SMS benefit is limited to 100 SMS per day, as per Trai’s regulations.

As mentioned, Airtel is still offering the Rs 448 prepaid plan which provides a user with 1.4GB data per day and the same unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day for 82 days.

Having said that, Airtel now has three 2GB daily data plans of Rs 249, Rs 449 & Rs 499 and four 1.4GB daily data plans of Rs 199, Rs 399, Rs 448 & Rs 509. So the telco is unifying its tariff lineup to put it against Reliance Jio. For the unaware, Jio has both 1.5GB and 2GB daily data plans starting from just Rs 149. On the flip side, Airtel’s 1.4GB plan starts at Rs 199.

Airtel also introduced a couple of 3GB daily data plans of Rs 349 and Rs 558 very recently. So finally Airtel is looking to unify its tariff lineup and the best part is the Rs 449 plan is an open market one.

I wonder what kind of rule I broke by simply listing the tariff of both companies.

Airtel – Rs. 449, 2 GB/day, 70 days.

Jio – Rs. 448, 2GB/day, 84 days.

Off topic- Funny experience with BSNL. As some of you might be aware that i am currently using for data as the speeds are 10-15Mbps in my area. Interesting part is that the same speeds tank below 20KB/ps (KB/ps) on power cuts which is quite common these days in this part of UPE. I presume the back haul connectivity (probably fiber) goes down and the tower defaults on microwave which i think is quite congested. The speeds become normal after power comes back.

Awkward and funny but still BSNL! 😀

Last time I headed to MyJio App to chat with the Customer Care, the app told me to download JioChat App as they’ve ceased this facility on MyJio App. I don’t know when this started again on MyJio App itself.
