Online retailer Amazon has set up three free Wi-Fi zones, in Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai with an intention of attracting customers to its shopping platform. The high speed internet is unlimited and is not restricted to any particular activity. However, these free WiFi hotspots would be available for a limited time and will operate only till 3 August.
In Hyderabad, the Wi-Fi zone is located at Secunderabad junction, Dilsukhnagar and Ameerpet. In Pune, the zones are located at four bus shelters - East Street Road, M.G. Road, Bund Garden Road and J.M. Road. In Chennai, free Wifi can be accessed at bus shelters in Santhome High Road, Egmore High Road, Dr. Nair Road and Velacherry High Road.
Amazon is committed towards investing $2 billion in India to boom the online purchase of the people, who are now more stick to home grown e-commerce sites like Flipkart and Snapdeal. “We have been relentlessly innovating to deliver a great customer experience in India. In line with this, we have innovated on the out of home front to launch 24X7 free Wi-Fi hotspots in high footfall locations across Hyderabad so that local residents can enjoy seamless online shopping,” Manish Kalra, director of integrated marketing at Amazon’s India unit said in a statement.
Amazon’s representatives will be available in free Wi-Fi zone areas to help the first time users.
