Infinix Mobiles, which launched the Smart 2 smartphone at an aggressive starting price of Rs 5,999 stated that it's aiming to see 2 lakh units every month from now. The Transsion Holdings smartphone firm Inifinix today said it expects to be among top five players in the online segment in next one year. "Transsion Holdings (parent firm of the company) is just 2 years old in the country, and it is already among the top 5 mobile phones players in the country. Now, we are looking Infinix alone to be among top 5 players in the online segment," Infinix India CEO Anish Kapoor said after launching new smartphone Infinix Smart 2 earlier today.
According to Counterpoint Research, Transsion with its three brands- itel, Tecno and Infinix, has emerged as the fifth largest player in the Indian mobile phone industry by capturing 4% market share in the first quarter of 2018.
"Earlier, we were not focussing on volume sale. Now, we are looking to sell 2 lakh units of Infinix every month online," Kapoor said to PTI.
He also said that company would continue to focus on smartphones in the price range below Rs 10,000 a unit to push sales.
"We will keep bringing new features available in phones of the higher price range in below Rs 10,000 devices. Today, with Smart 2, we have introduced dual VoLTE sim slot for Rs 5,999 so that customer in this segment can leverage the benefit of 4G network expansion," Kapoor added.
He said that the company no longer imports phones for sale in India and production capacity would be increased to meet the local demand.
