Price wars in Indian telecom sector don’t seem to end any sooner. Both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone have updated their existing postpaid plans, following aggressive price cuts for the prepaid subscribers.
Bharti Airtel has eight postpaid plans starting at Rs 399, Rs 499, Rs 649, Rs 799, Rs 1199, Rs 1599, Rs 1999 to Rs 2999 under its ‘myPlan infinity' service for making unlimited free voice calls. All plans come with unlimited calling and varying data packs for per month usage. Vodafone isn’t far behind offering new RED Traveler schemes starting at Rs 499 and the top plan costing Rs 2999.

Airtel myPlan Infinity 2999
Airtel’s most premium Infinity plan of Rs 2999 per month offers unlimited calls for both local & STD, and as well outgoing national roaming. In terms of data benefits, it includes 200GB per month that come without daily usage limits. You also get benefits of 100 free SMSes per day.
The plan comes with a Data Rollover service, meaning you get to carry forward your unused data into next month. This, however, is subject to a maximum limit of 500GB per account. Included in the plan is free subscription to Wynk Music and Airtel TV. The postpaid plan also provides for free Airtel Secure subscription for the billing cycle which is the company’s device protection service.
Vodafone RED Signature Plan
Vodafone’s premium Signature postpaid service includes a single Rs 2999 plan. Similar to Airtel plans, Vodafone offers unlimited national calling, outgoing roaming, free SMSes and 200GB data per month. It too comes with data rollover scheme allowing subscribers to store a maximum data of 500GB before it gets exhausted.
The RED Signature plan additionally gives 200 international calling minutes, though there is no such limit for local/STD calls. It also offers a subscription to exclusive services such as Vodafone Play, Magzter, Netflix, Vodafone RED Shield, and just 100 SMS per billing cycle. Do make a note that these RED Postpaid plan prices are excluding taxes.
Verdict
Clearly, Vodafone’s RED Signature is the best among the two postpaid plans. Though priced same, Vodafone offers international calling benefit of 200 minutes, something which Airtel fails to include in their premium service.
Moreover, Vodafone has a free subscription to Netflix for its postpaid subscribers, which is another advantage over for Airtel. In addition, the company announced RED Together scheme which allows customers to avail 20% discount when adding more family members to the plan, which Airtel also offers as Airtel Family scheme.
That doesn’t mean Airtel’s Infinity plan is not worth it. Bharti Airtel is still the largest telecom operator in the country and has the largest coverage which makes it reliable network.
