And the Samsung Galaxy Note FE goes official, as rumoured. Samsung Electronics, earlier today announced the Galaxy Note FE in Seoul, it's homeland. The smartphone is a refurbished variant of the Galaxy Note 7, which was recalled a few months due to fire-prone batteries.
Samsung has finally made the device official, although it will sell in a small number of 400,000 units. And yes, the smartphone will be available only in South Korea and Samsung did not reveal about the device's availability in other countries including India. It was rumoured that Samsung India would launch the device in India immediately after the launch, but all those are just speculations.
Coming to the pricing, the Galaxy Note Fan Edition will retail for 699,600 won, which is approximately $611. This is 30 percent lower price than the original Note 7's price. Samsung also said that the Note 7 FE would be manufactured by the unused Note 7 handsets and unused Note 7 components.
Back in January, Samsung revealed the reason for Galaxy Note 7 explosion, and it's the faulty batteries. As expected, the Note FE features a smaller 3200mAh battery, compared to the 3500mAh battery seen on the original Note 7. Also, the Galaxy Note FE have gone through Samsung's new 8-point safety check process to ensure no problems in the future.
Besides the smaller battery, the Galaxy Note FE has the same specifications as the original Galaxy Note 7. It has a larger 5.7-inch dual-edge Quad HD display and is powered by the quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM, IP68 rating, and an IRIS scanner as well.
The Note FE uses the same 12MP dual pixel camera at the back with an aperture of f/1.7 and LED flash. Up front, there's a 5MP camera for selfies and video calls. In addition, the Note FE has support for S Pen as well.
Samsung has included other software features such as Bixby virtual assistant and Bixby Vision for enhanced usage. The price of the phone is still on the steeper side, and it's a challenge for Samsung to sell 400,000 units, after all, it's the same device which caught fire a few months ago.
