Redmond giant, Microsoft announced its next generation Surface tablet yesterday at an event in Shangai, China. The new Surface tablet will be called as just 'Microsoft Surface Pro' with no numerical behind it. Nevertheless, the new Surface Pro is way ahead of the original Surface Pro launched in 2013. And it is a successor to the 2015's Surface Pro 4, which is still the best hybrid Windows 10 laptop to beat in 2017.

The Surface Pro 4 was announced back in 2015, and now Microsoft decided to release a beefed variant of it by using new processor and internals underneath. The Surface Pro offers the same 12.3-inch PixelSense display as the Surface Pro 4, but Microsoft claims that the screen gets brighter than the older one.

Microsoft stated that there are over 800 new custom parts inside the Surface Pro used to provide better cooling, performance, and battery. The all-new Surface Pro comes powered by the Intel 7th generation processors, which are also called as Kaby Lake processors. The latest Kaby Lake chip may not offer improved performance compared to the Surface Pro 4, but it consumes less power than the previous generation.

The new Surface Pro will be available in Core m3 model, Core i5 model, and in a Core i5 model as well. The RAM in the base Core m3 model is 4GB, and it goes all the way up to 16GB with the Core i7 model. Storage will also be the same starting at 128GB SSD, which goes all the way up to 1TB with the premium variant.

The battery is also improved in the new Surface Pro. Microsoft claims that its new machine will offer up to 13.5 hours juice with a single charge. These all are minor upgrades. Nonetheless, much-needed ones as well to stay in the contention.

Lastly, there's a major feature added to the Surface Pro, and it's a connectivity option. The Microsoft Surface Pro comes with 4G LTE option- for the first time in the Surface Pro series. However, the LTE variant will be available later this year, which is a letdown. Microsoft announced that they would announce the product in various countries on June 15 and India is not amongst the list.
