For the financial year that ended December 21, 2014, Lenovo reported a revenue of $14.1 billion. What’s more interesting is that Lenovo also disclosed that Motorola Mobility, which is now a part of Lenovo, sold over 10 million smartphones in the quarter adding $1.9 billion revenue to the total Mobile Business Group.
In the first quarter of 2014, Motorola had shipped 6.5 million smartphones globally, while in Q2 2014 it shipped 8.6 million smartphones, a whooping 32.3% increase QoQ. While Lenovo did not disclose the break down of handsets sold, all the handsets that the company had launched including Moto X, Moto E, Moto G, and Moto X Pro have been stellar. If we have to guess, the Moto G was Motorola best-selling device.
Last year, Google sold Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for $2.91 billion in a mixture of cash and stock. Google itself had acquired Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion back in 2012. Google still retains ownership of the vast majority of Motorola’s patents, after the deal.
