Vodafone Idea (Vi) has outlined its network expansion roadmap, service innovations, and customer-first priorities as it steps into 2026, with CEO Abhijit Kishore sharing a detailed update directly with customers. In his New Year message, the Vi chief highlighted the company’s continued investments in strengthening network infrastructure across India. Vi has added a significant number of new towers nationwide to enhance coverage, capacity, and overall network experience.

A key focus of the update was Vi’s growing 5G footprint. The operator has already launched 5G services in 29 cities and has now commenced the next phase of its nationwide expansion, aiming to bring 5G to more locations while continuing to strengthen its AI-driven, self-optimised 4G network.
Beyond connectivity, Vodafone Idea emphasised innovation across services and digital safety. The company recently introduced Vi Protect, an AI-powered solution designed to safeguard users from spam, scams, and cyber threats. According to the company, the platform has already identified and flagged over 250 crore spam messages and voice calls, marking a significant step in enhancing customer security.
Vi also highlighted its industry-first launch of International Call Display and Calling Name Presentation (CNAP), enabling users to see the names of Vi callers even if they are not saved in the contact list a move aimed at improving call transparency and trust.

To address travel-related needs, Vi strengthened its international roaming proposition with the launch of a Forex Card, offering no additional foreign exchange charges and acceptance in over 180 countries. The card is available via the Vi App, positioning it as a cost-effective and convenient solution for global travellers.
The operator further announced an industry-first Handset Loss Insurance Programme, a recharge-linked plan that insures smartphones for up to Rs 25,000 with a fully digital, hassle-free claims process targeting customers looking to protect their handset investments.

Vodafone idea also underlined progress in building a broader digital ecosystem through strategic partnerships spanning travel, IoT, fintech, MSME enablement, and future connectivity solutions, reinforcing its focus on long-term innovation.
Encouraging customers to explore these services via the Vi App, the CEO noted that the app now brings together entertainment, bill payments, FASTag recharges, insurance, and eSIM services under one platform.
