It seems like Uninor is going to start its cellular services in Punjab circle soon if one go by information available at their website.
Uninor which has Pan-India license for 2G services has deferred its plan of launching services many a times in 4 major circle Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh and some other north-eastern circles because of unavailability of spectrum to start services.
Uninor network is live in Punjab from a year or so but it is not operational. But it is going to be operational soon.In Uninor’s website, there is no details of tariff plans if you select these circles.
Uninor rolled out its GSM services in India with services started in 8 circles at one go, later 2 circles & 5 circles added to its list of operation.The exact date of the commercial launch is still not known but it is sure that it will be in next 30-45 days.

Saurabh November 22, 2011 at 11:56 am
SIMs are not available at all the dealers. Out of 100 the chances are less than 10.
Pankaj November 7, 2011 at 8:04 pm
@Saurabh :- Bro i contacted 4-5 dealer.. And got same answer “Uninor wale pagal bana rahe hai.. Sim denge tabhi toh hum sale karenge”.. Lol.. I said Ok.. And Came Back..
Saurabh November 7, 2011 at 4:16 pm
I talked to the company and they said we are selling SIMs in both Punjab and Haryana and you can buy the SIM where it is available. The problem is SIMs are available at those places only where BTS is already installed like at my place and new activation requests are not processed after Nov 3, 2011. My SIM is active but cannot avail any VAS like SMS packs or Internet Packs. Can recharge only with Talktime vouchers of Rs.50/100 only. There is no update on official announcement in both circles. Also they are using Vodafone network where their own BTS is not present. I have checked at places and got registered on Vodafone network in Haryana.

Saurabh September 21, 2011 at 11:35 pm
We are not talking about availability of services. We are talking about commercial launch which hasn’t been announced by company yet and would be soon. We had videocon SIMs available in our town well before official announcement. Same is the case there in Punjab. Have a get your hands on one? I visited Patiala, Ludhiana and Chandigarh(this Monday) but none of their dealers are selling SIM cards.
Saurabh September 21, 2011 at 11:28 pm
Signals are live in Yamunanagar. I checked it myself when visited there. Also signals are live in many towns and villages. The network code is IND 813 or 405 813.

Unitech should exit from Uninor joint venture as telenor couldn’t expand due to case filed by unitech. Now SC has cleared the matter so telenor is raising fund to expand.

@Rohan Singh
No they will not launch services in any new circles and neither dont expect videocon to erect new tower in future as the company is worst hit and is starving for funds. They have ARPU Of 8.50rs only and it is highly impossible for videocon and cheers to breakeven in next 6 to 7 years. Result is business will be shutdown. Can you imagine these operators are having revenues within 5crores per quarter?? Uninor is the only new operator performing very impressively with quarterly revenues of 500+ crores and it is increasing every quarter. Videocon is waiting for exit policy.
pankaj September 21, 2011 at 7:55 pm
agreed TATA DOCOMO network has improved drastically in mumbai now i can talk uninteruptly even in trains
Gourav September 21, 2011 at 7:44 pm
no signals of uninor in yamunanagar….
Abhijit September 21, 2011 at 7:34 pm
Now Uninor also behaving like Airtel & Reliance, that is Activating VAS services without users concern in Maharashtra circle!!!
Today Deducted Rs.50 from account for ModelsClub service… And Uninor CC is telling that you activated it from Uninor Wap portal Site. But I am using Uninor in Non-GPRS enabled handset that is Nokia 1600.. Using Uninor only for group calling at 2ps/min(i.e Uninor to Uninor calls only)..
So now whether this matter can be solved by calling to Nodal Officer and will they refund it??
Rohan Singh September 21, 2011 at 7:33 pm
Videcon mobile services website also shows Kolkata circle but no details of plan are shown. I can also see sometime videocon signals but their signals are available from last 1 year now. Are they really interested to launch their services …??
Raghu September 21, 2011 at 7:03 pm
@Saurabh gupta
agree with you DOCOMO network is better compared to Uninor. But Reliance GSM network is bad in my circle
Raghu September 21, 2011 at 7:03 pm
@Amit.G
yes that is good news. hope network improvement is there in Uninor within the next 6 months.
Saurabh September 21, 2011 at 6:30 pm
The signals are also live in Haryana from April, 2010 but no service.
Saurabh September 21, 2011 at 6:27 pm
Madhya Pradesh is also there on website but no plan details like Punjab. In Punjab, the SIM card stock has been made available to dealers but there are strict orders of not selling before official announcement by the company. We can see pamphlets available at local mobile shops in Patiala (Punjab) but they are denying SIM cards as of now. Lets see whether it happens in a month or even before that.
Saurabh gupta September 21, 2011 at 6:14 pm
Please make your network better in the present circles TATA DOCOMO has far better network in uninor comparison and best among the new GSM operators even reliance network has improved a lot specially since last 6 months
Amit.G September 21, 2011 at 5:50 pm
They are going to start there services in punjab and Haryana by Q4. The company is in the process of raising 8000 crores to increase the network coverage in current circles and and launch in 2 new circles.
