After the lot of complaints of false practice by some leading operators regarding Mobile Number Portability (MNP), Indian telecom watchdog Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today issued new directive to stop the cancellation or withdrawal of MNP Port Out request by 'Donor' operator.

TRAI said that as a donor operator, some of the mobile service providers are rejecting the Porting request by accepting cancellation request in the form of written request, SMS or voice call from the subscriber is illegal and there is no provision in the MNP regulations permitting the Donor Operators to accept withdrawal or cancellation of porting requests received from the subscribers.

In order to improve the effectiveness of MNP in India, TRAI  clearly said that Not to entertain any request from the mobile subscriber for cancellation or withdrawal of porting request and not to reject a porting request except on the grounds mentioned under MNP regulation.

Many customers are facing issues while porting out and time taken to port out operators most of all leading operators were acting fussy towards customers. Some customers also complaining that their operators not generating the UPC Code immediately after the SMS requests.
