The Department of telecom (DoT) issued a notice to S Tel Private Limited (S Tel), a new telecom operator in the lndian marketplace, is a joint venture between Siva Group (formerly Sterling Infotech Group) and Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) to stop its GSM mobile services in Himachal Pradesh, Orissa and Bihar-Jharkhand telecom circles, citing security concerns.
According to the spokesman of S Tel “a letter from the department asking it to stop services didn’t provide any details or specifics about the security concerns.” We are trying to ascertain the same (reasons) for any supportive action from our side.
S Tel has UAS licenses for Bihar-Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Orissa, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and North East telecom Circle.
