WhatsApp will soon allow users to edit media right from the chat screen itself. The instant messaging platform is now working on a new feature ‘Quick Edit Media Shortcut’ that will allow users to edit a media file from a personal chat or group without re-uploading. For example, you received a message, or you sent a media file, and you want to send the same media file with some modifications, it was not possible earlier, however, with this Quick Edit Media Shortcut feature, it will be possible. Basically, this feature saves storage to the users and it also removes the hassle of saving the picture every time and sending it to others with new modifications.

WhatsApp to Offer In-Chat Media Edit Option
WhatsApp is working on a lot of features right now and one of them is the Quick Edit Media Shortcut. The Facebook-owned company will be introducing this feature to both Android and iOS users, but right now, it’s under development, according to WhatsApp tracking portal WABetaInfo. It’s unknown when the feature will be rolled out to the public, but with the working screenshots coming out, we can expect it in the coming weeks.
Talking about the feature, the upcoming Quick Edit Media Shortcut will allow users to edit media files right from the chat screen itself. For instance, you have received an image from one of your contacts and you want to re-send a copy of it; Well, you can now do that easily by using the Edit option that’s present when you open the received or sent media file. Hitting the Edit option will present you with the text addition, Doodle addition and caption addition to the image. That being said, WABetaInfo claims the media file which you edited will not be saved on your smartphone, instead, the original image you received or sent will be saved.
