Vodafone Launches Guide To Active Citizenship For Kolkata

Vodafone Essar, one of India's leading GSM mobile service providers, in association with Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and PUBLIC, has launched the Guide to Active Citizenship in its attempt to empower the citizens of Kolkata.

The Guide was unveiled by Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, Sridhar Rao, CEO, Vodafone Essar East Ltd and Bonani Kakkar, President, PUBLIC (a non-governmental organization).




This guide is a ready reckoner to address most common civic issue faced by people of Kolkata in their day to day lives, claimed an official spokesperson. The guide answers fundamental questions concerning issues like sound pollution, illegally dumping garbage, food adulteration and street lights repairs etc. Subsequent to the launch, the guide will be made available to all Vodafone Stores and also be distributed along with the postpaid bills.

Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Rao, Chief Executive Officer, Vodafone Essar East said, “The Guide to Active Citizenship is an endeavour to drive awareness on civic issues and consciously empower people to take action against any nuisance. It aims at encouraging citizens to actively participate in the upkeep of their own city.”
