Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd (SSTL) which operates under MTS brand has opened up phone booths for 24×7 customer helpline for Uttrakhand victims and rescued people. MTS UP West circle team is running the free of cost phone booths at Doiwala Government hospital and at Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. Toll free help line is available on +91-9152550000 and +91-9152550001 from MTS phone.
The initiative is also included by location tracker of last BTS usage of the MTS users who got stuck in the calamity. MTS is also accepting donations in form of food, cloths and etc at their various offices and these collection of stuffs will be handed over to Goonj, an NGO for its Raahat (Relief and Comfort) Floods campaign who would distribute them among victims and rescued tourists and pilgrims.

Why not make it mandatory for all such mobile service providers to provide such service in time of emergency?
I guess, you might have donated to Prime minister Relief fund, however it’s not mandatory though.
I have paid the tax on my income already. I don’t know if that money government has used in this relief or some scam.
This is the only problem that You don’t know…You even don’t know how mobile services are disrupted there, still Telecom Cos. are coming for helping people. It is social responsibility and not mandatory act..!!
Exactly, the efforts shown by the companies should be appreciated, because like one of the readers, they could have also claimed that they have already paid huge licence and spectrum fees besides the other huge amount of taxes, so they weren’t required to contribute anything further. Its high time people started appreciating the valuable efforts rather than just criticising things all the time. Peace!
