OTE Group Achieves Two New Optical Transmission Rates Over Long Distances

Greek telecommunications company OTE Group, a member of Deutsche Telekom (DT), announced this week that it has achieved two new optical transmission rate records using Nokia's sixth-generation super-coherent Photonic Service Engine (PSE-6s). In a field trial conducted over OTE Group's DWDM network in Greece, Nokia and OTE claimed records by transmitting 800 Gbps on a single channel over 2,580 km and 900 Gbps over 1,290 km.
