Starlink has finally revealed the pricing for its services in India. The company has been eyeing to start services in the country for more than five years now. However, due to regulatory hurdles, it hasn't been possible for the US satcom (satellite communications) giant. For now, the company has updated the pricing for its services for the residential users on its official website.

Here's the cost and the key features of the services.

Starlink India Cost and Key Features

A Starlink connection in India will cost Rs 8,600 per month. This is quite expensive, but this is line with what many expected. The key features of this service will include:

  • Plug and Play Setup
  • 99.9% uptime
  • Weather resilient
  • Unlimited data
  • 30-day trial

For India, the Starlink Map still shows "pending regulatory approval". However, that should come in the near future. The government has already given many permissions to Starlink, and things are on path for a complete approval in the short-term. Starlink will go head on with other companies such as Jio-SES and Eutelsat OneWeb. These will be three major operators when it comes to satcom market in India.

Starlink, along with the other companies, is waiting to see what the government does with the satellite spectrum. Whether it will come via the auction route or the administrative allocation route is something that the industry wants to see. Starlink has not yet revealed the cost of enterprise plans in India, but that should come soon as well. It is worth noting that amongst all the players, it will be Starlink who will go first D2C and not just B2B like the other two players.
