After the data tariff hike in the past few days, the prepaid portfolios of telecom operators have become unrecognisable. These plans which previously used to retail for very less, have now been increased in prices and the retail for now as much as 40% in some cases. This is definitely going to affect the consumers and the choices they make in the case of these prepaid plans. It is also quite possible that the subscribers might cut down on benefits to enjoy similar prices which they were paying before, only to get a little less data. In this data tariff hike, the prepaid plans have also broken many slabs as well. By this, what we mean to say is that plans which were costing less than Rs 100 are now priced above Rs 200. Now, in the head of the consumers, this is a big leap and a big difference to pay to the telecom companies and this difference is especially apparent in the case of lower rungs of prepaid plans. Similarly, there is the plan of 1GB daily data, which is retailing at different prices for different telecom operators.

Reliance Jio Rs 149 Prepaid Plan

The first plan that draws the eye in the case of Reliance Jio portfolio is the Rs 149 prepaid plan from the telecom operator. So, if we are to look at the portfolio of Reliance Jio, we are more likely to find other prepaid plans which offer 1.5GB daily data or 2GB daily data, and there are many more options for the users when they want those offers. However, for the people who would like to stick to budget offerings, there is the 1GB daily data category, and under this category, there is a single plan of Rs 149. As for the benefits of this plan, the subscribers will get 1GB daily data, combined with 24 days of validity. Apart from this, other benefits will include unlimited Jio to Jio calls and 300 minutes of non-Jio calls to other operators. Users also enjoy 100 SMS per day in this plan.

Bharti Airtel Rs 219 Prepaid Plan

The interesting thing comes up when we look at the portfolio of other telecom operators to find a plan with similar benefits. In the case of Bharti Airtel, there is a Rs 219 prepaid plan which offers 1GB daily data to the consumers, and this plan comes with 28 days of validity. The good thing with this plan is that it is offering truly unlimited calling to justify the price tag, and the validity of this plan is also a little more with extra 4 days in the subscribers’ accounts. Not only this, in Airtel’s case, the subscribers also get a couple of additional benefits as well. These benefits include Rs 150 Cashback on FASTag, 4 week course on Shaw academy, Airtel Xstream app Premium subscription, and Wynk Music.

Which Prepaid Plan to Choose?

When it comes to comparing the two plans, the comparison boils down to the needs of the consumers, and eventually what they are looking for - data or calling. In case, the subscribers are only looking for data, and they have got anther SIM dedicated for calling, then the Reliance Jio prepaid plan might come in use as it offers data at a cheaper rate. But, if you are looking for a well-rounded offering which also offers calling facility, then it would be worth it spending the extra Rs 60 or more to get the Airtel offering which comes with unlimited bundled calling.
