Rajasthan's own mobile service brand Rainbow announced that it has been re branded to MTS Mobile. MTS India also launches its offer of one million free minutes for lifetime on call within MTS network. MTS might have generated enough interest already with this schemes in TamilNadu and Kerala these minutes are capped at 150 minutes per day.
The offer is valid for a limited period and for pre-paid services only. MTS Rajasthan also launches one Unlimited calling plan dubbed as "Simply Talk",with this plan MTS customer can make Unlimited local call to MTS network free for 6 month and other network call will be charged at 50 paisa.Moreover, SMS to any MTS mobile would be free for six months within Rajasthan.
Speaking at the 'MTS logo' release and joint press conference, SSTL Managing Director Alok Tandon said, Shyam Teleservices had spent Rs 1,000 crore since 1995-96 for providing mobile and broadband services in the state, and now the focus would be to connect 800 million Indians who are yet to be connected. SSTL had initially launched its operations in Rajasthan,where it provides mobile telephony connections to over 600 towns and over 12,000 villages.
MTS India (Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd), a joint venture between Russia's Sistema and the Shyam Group, citied it is planning to complete its all-India service launch by the third quarter of 2010. Vsevolod Rozanov quoted on the eve of re branding exercise. MTS is also planning to cover 2-3 circles every quarter MTS has spectrum in all the 22 circles in the country. MTS will the 3rd CDMA operator in the country after Reliance Communications and Tata Indicom offering CDMA service.
