Finally, Motorola has launched the Moto G6 lineup of smartphones at an event in Brazil. The Moto G6 lineup, as it was rumoured since the start of this year has three smartphones- the standard Moto G6, the bigger & better Moto G6 Plus and the smaller Moto G6 Play. All the three smartphones are now official and they bring in a ton of new features when compared to the Moto G5 and G5S lineup of smartphones. They boot Android 8.0 out of the box, packs dual cameras and offers better look and feel than the earlier Motorola devices. It is yet to be revealed when Motorola is going to bring these devices to the Indian market. Let's run down the specifications of the three smartphones:
Motorola Moto G6 Plus
The 2018 Moto G6 lineup is led by the Moto G6 Plus, which is bigger in size, powerful in nature and of course, it's the pricier one as well. The Moto G6 Plus has a 5.9-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It's an IPS LCD panel, so don't get excited about the display. Internally, it's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, not the Snapdragon 636 SoC so that the performance would be in-line with the Moto X4. On the brighter side, Motorola has released 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants of the device. Storage options of the smartphone go up to 128GB along with support for a microSD card.
The Moto G6 Plus rocks two cameras at the back: a primary 12MP sensor with large 1.4µm pixels and dual-pixel technology is paired with a 5MP secondary depth sensor. The camera is capable of shooting 4K videos, and Motorola has added an 8MP selfie shooter to the device. The G6 Plus ships with a larger 3200mAh battery and also comes with Motorola's TurboCharge fast charging support. And the best part is Motorola has added a USB Type-C port in the smartphone.
The Moto G6 Plus will start at a price tag of €300 (approx. Rs 24,000).
Motorola Moto G6
Like the Moto G6 Plus, the standard Moto G6 also packs an 18:9 Full HD+ display, but the size of the display is 5.7-inch. At the heart of the phone, there's the Snapdragon 450 SoC, clubbed with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot is present as well for storage expansion.
Like the Moto G6 Plus, it also packs the same 12MP+5MP rear camera setup but loses out the dual-pixel autofocus technology. It can record videos of 1080p quality, and the same 8MP selfie shooter is present on the same. It has a 3000mAh battery with TurboCharge tech support.
Both the Moto G6 and G6 Plus packs a glass back and metal frame, much like the Moto X4. So, it's obvious that Motorola has taken the design cues from the Moto X4 device and all the three Moto G6 devices feature P2i water-repellent coating, which will protect the devices from accidental water spills.
The Moto G6 is priced around €250 (approx. Rs 20,000).
Motorola Moto G6 Play
Lastly, we have the Moto G6 Play device in the Moto G6 series. The highlight of the G6 Play is the 4000mAh battery inside, but it's coupled to the entry-level Snapdragon 427 SoC. The Moto G6 Play is rated to offer up to 36 hours of battery life with a single charge, and it also has the same Motorola TurboCharge support.
Other specifications of the smartphone include the 5.7-inch 18:9 HD+ display and the device comes in a single 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage option. It also has a microSD slot for storage expansion. The Moto G6 Play packs a single 13MP camera at the back, and it has the same 8MP selfie shooter as the other two models. The Moto G6 Play will retail for €200 (approx. Rs 16,600).
All the three smartphones feature a fingerprint scanner at the back, placed inside the Moto logo.
