India's Telecom Watchdog Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today issue directive to Bharti Airtel, Reliance (Rcom and RTL), Tata Teleservices, Aircel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India to cancel all the 5923 premium mobile numbers of Loop Telecom (not Loop Mobile) which have been illegally ported out from Loop network to these mobile service provider after the cancellation of 21 UAS licences of Loop Telecom in 2G verdict.
Earlier on 13th July, 2012, Loop Telecom filed a complaint with sector regulator TRAI and alleging that the total 5923 mobile numbers ported out from its network by using Fake UPC code (not generated by Loop Telecom) to various recipients operators. Out of these 5923 mobile numbers 5580 mobile numbers are related to 3 non-commercially launched service area (circles) and 343 mobile numbers from 6 other circle wherein Loop Telecom launched its services but not issued these numbers to any subscribers in respective circles.
Loop Telecom also said that all these numbers never activated in the system for subscriber use so this port out activity by Bharti Airtel, Reliance (Rcom and RTL), Tata Teleservices, Aircel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India is seems to be fraudulent activity.
The maximum number (5288) were ported in by Bharti Airtel in Himachal Pradesh (5277) and UP West (15) telecom circles, while Aircel -20, Idea Cellular 307, Reliance 51 (GSM and CDMA), Tata Teleservices 230 and Vodafone India ported in 19 mobile numbers from Loop Telecom illegally.
However MNP Service provider Telecordia and SYNVERSE said that these mobile numbers were automatically cleared in the mobile clearing house as there was no response from Loop Telecom within stipulated time regarding clearance/objection in respect of porting request of the mobile numbers referred to illegally ported out from Loop Telecom.
After checking all the facts presented by Loop Telecom, TRAI directs these operators to cancel all 5932 mobile numbers of Loop Telecom which were ported in to Bharti Airtel, Reliance (Rcom and RTL), Tata Teleservices, Aircel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India with in 48 hours and return the said mobile numbers to Number Range holder.
All the mobile numbers illegally ported from Loop Telecom to other operators as mentioned above are premium / vanity or fancy type mobile numbers, so it seems that all these activity was done to grab the premium numbers for FREE.
