Communications services provider iSAT Africa has partnered with Nokia to enhance rural connectivity in Liberia, aiming to bridge the digital divide and provide affordable network access to underserved communities. The collaboration will involve deploying Nokia's Rural Connect solution across 200 rural sites over the next three years, according to an official release on Wednesday.

Technology Behind the Rollout
The rollout will feature Nokia's AirScale radio portfolio, including Massive MIMO radios and base stations, along with its MantaRay Network Management for network monitoring. This initiative seeks to extend coverage beyond urban areas, offering reliable voice and data services in remote regions.
Networks-as-a-Service
Commenting on the development, iSAT Africa said: "The Nokia Rural Connect solution offers lean, energy-efficient, and easy-to-deploy technologies that enable us to extend coverage into underserved areas. This deployment will strengthen our position as a leader in providing Networks-as-a-Service and improve lives by enabling reliable voice and data services, connecting the unconnected."

Impact on Rural Communities
The 200-site deployment will expand iSAT Africa's network reach, providing mobile network operators with a cost-effective and highly efficient solution, the company said noting that this expansion will help rural communities access critical services.
