Idea Cellular to Expand its Network in Delhi to 3G on 900 MHz, and will launch 4G in 8 Circles

Idea CellularIdea Cellular will now has the ability to launch 4G services in Kerala with 10 MHz, and in Maharashtra & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana, and North East, using 5 MHz of contiguous 1800 MHz spectrum won in each of these service areas, besides the right to deploy the 3G services with 5 MHz on the 900 MHz band in the strategically significant metro market of Delhi.

With Delhi metro 900 MHz, Idea Cellular now has the ability to extend its 3G services to 12 circles covering nearly 79% of its gross revenues (Idea Standalone Gross Revenue is Rs. 255,581 million in calendar year 2013). The Company has also acquired additional top up spectrum in 1800 MHz in Mumbai metro and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh – 2 MHz each, Maharashtra – 4 MHz, Punjab – 3 MHz, Gujarat – 1.6 MHz, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana – 1 MHz each, and Delhi – 0.6 MHz.

With this additional spectrum auction win, Idea’s 6 strategic markets of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra & Goa, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Punjab, and Haryana, representing 53% of its revenues, will seamlessly experience all three Mobility technologies – GSM, 3G, and 4G services in the coming years.

I am excited about the news – Idea launching 4G in Maharashtra.

I am planning to buy Google Nexus 5. I have an option to buy it in USA and save some money. Considering the specs below, will Idea 4G will work on US model?
North America:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41

Rest of World:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20

Yeah u should…i feel surprisedif u r not from pune n using vodafone bcuz leavibg pune in maharashtra the speed of vodafone in 3G doesnt go above 2.4mbps In pune itd 3.1mbps (tested it)….Whats the use of paying so much n getting such a crappy speed …Even bsnl 3g for 139rs gives the same speed why pay 250 for that…. In 3G coverage n speed idea is very much serious i get speed till 6.3mbps!! If u dont believe i can send u the img of it…n i get 1gb 3g for 124rs when i call 12125 n c my… Read more »

Ha ha… No! Technology is different even though band is same. Open your phone’s user guide and its technical specs section, there you will find written GSM 900/1800 mhz. For 3g its written UMTS 900/2100 and for 4g lte 1800/2300/700
