Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are now official. Ahead of the launch, we have seen several rumours of both the smartphones which revealed pretty much everything. The Pixel 4 and 4 XL are high-end phones and the most ambitious smartphones Google has ever made. They both feature a brand new Radar sensor which allows users to interact with the phones using gestures. Google also says the Pixel 4 series features the most secure Face Unlock system. They both come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, clubbed with up to 6GB of RAM. Being Google-made smartphones, the Pixel 4 series run Android 10 out of the box and comes with a guarantee of three years of software updates. Also, the Pixel 4 devices are the first in-house phones from Google to feature a dual-camera setup on the rear side. International reviews of the Apple iPhone 11 series termed them as the best camera phones of 2019 and it will be interesting to see whether Google takes back the crown with the Pixel 4 series.

Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL: Specifications and Features

When it comes to the hardware specs, the Pixel 4 features a 5.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display and the Pixel 4 XL has a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ OLED display. Also, both the phones have 90Hz refresh rate and they come in three colour options- Just Black, Clearly White and Also Orange. The phones will intelligently switch the between 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rates depending on the requirement. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Under the hood, they have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, clubbed with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It's sad to see Google not opting for the latest Snapdragon 855+ SoC which we get on the likes of OnePlus 7T series, Asus ROG Phone 2, among others.

Over the last couple of years, Google Pixel devices dominated the camera segment, beating the likes of Apple, Samsung and Huawei. With the Pixel 4 series, Google is raising the bar even further. The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL features a telephoto lens for the first time and Google says it's a hybrid of optical and digital zoom. Google Pixel is capable of delivering such good images, thanks to the hybrid of optical and digital zoom photography.

The Pixel 4 series gets four new computational photography features- Live HDR+, automatic White Balance adjustment using machine learning, improved Portrait mode, and lastly, the phones offer improved Night Sight. Google's Pixel range of phones delivered the best when it comes to the cameras, and with these new improvements, the Pixel 4 series seems to beat the Apple iPhone 11 devices. As for the general camera specs, the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL come with a 12.2MP primary rear-facing sensor that works in tandem with a 16MP telephoto sensor. Both the sensors offer Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and PDAF.

Other hardware features include IP68 water and dust resistance, Motion Sense radar that allows users to control the phone using gestures and there's a new Pixel Neural Core processor. And yes, the Pixel 4 series does not feature any fingerprint scanner, so you'll have to rely on the Face Unlock feature for almost everything.

The Pixel 4 has a 2800mAh battery whereas the Pixel 4 XL comes with a 3700mAh battery. There are 18W fast charging and wireless charging support as well.
