India's leading telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) announces that the company will expand its 3G Mobile Services in 1,000 cities by the year end. The company targets a customer base of one lakh users for its third generation- 3G mobile services over next 3 months."We are looking at one lakh subscribers for our 3G services by September, We plan to provide 3G services in 1,000 cities by the end of this year 2009," BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Kuldeep Goyal said .
BSNL, at present, offers 3G services in 70 cities and has about more than 9,000 3G subscribers. It launched its 3G services few months back, on February 2 this year. The 3G mobile services provide users access to High speed Internet,Video calling as well as video streaming applications such as Live TV and movie downloads.
The introduction of these telecom services would also help the BSNL in increasing its revenues.
BSNL will also expand its service offering to include voice-on-demand (VOD), video streaming, games-on-demand and full track music download. "We are currently offering just video calling, mobile TV and high speed internet. We would introduce services like VOD, games-on-demand and full track music download in a month's time," Goyal said.3G Mobile services provide users access to high speed Internet as well as video streaming applications such as Live TV and movie downloads.
