India's 3rd largest GSM service provider Idea cellular is all set to roll out its GSM Mobile Service in Kolkata and West Bengal telecom circle. The core GSM network is live in test mode in parts of Kolkata Metro and West Bengal telecom circle.The help line number for Idea Cellular Kolkata will 90880-12345 and for West Bengal its 90930-12345 .
Idea's plans to go for GSM Mobile service in Kolkata and West Bengal after it receives allotted 4.4 MHz start-up spectrum in the 1800 MHz band by DoT in both circles.
Besides Kolkata and West Bengal circles, Idea has also received its quota of 4.4 MHz startup spectrum for the Assam and Northeast service areas and company plans to roll out mobile service in all circles by the end of December 2009.
Idea cellular will be the 6th GSM operator in Kolkata, the five other operator are Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, BSNL, and Reliance Smart.
At present,the company has its GSM mobile service in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar-Jharkhand, Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh-Chattisgarh, Maharashtra-Goa, Mumbai, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan,Tamilnadu-Chennai,UP-East and UP-West telecom circle.
