HMD Global has been the fastest to upgrade its Nokia phones to Google's Android 9 Pie software. In the last few months, HMD Global has upgraded several Nokia phones to Android 9 Pie software. The latest addition to the list of the Nokia 3.1. On Thursday, Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, announced that the Nokia 3.1 has now been upgraded to the Android 9 Pie software, which no more is the latest software from Google, considering the search giant has now released the Beta 1 for Android Q. Google will officially release Android Q in May this year during the Google I/O developers meet.
In the tweet, Sarvikas said, "Your premium companion, Nokia 3.1 now offers the sweetest experience with Android 9, Pie! Nokia smartphones get better with time!" Undoubtedly HMD Global is the fastest smartphone manufacturer to rollout Android 9 Pie update to its phones.
Nokia 3.1: Specifications and Price
To recall, HMD launched the Nokia 3.1 in India in July last year. The Nokia 3.1 was launched in India for a starting price of Rs 10,499. This price is for the 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage variant of the Nokia 3.1. The Nokia 3.1 also comes packed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. The Nokia phone is available in three colour options in India including - Black, Blue, and White. The smartphone can be purchased via offline and a couple of online stores in India.
As far as the specs are concerned, the Nokia 3.1 comes packed with a 5.2-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. On the hardware front, the Nokia 3.1 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6750N paired with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. The phone was launched running on Android 8.1 Oreo-based on the Android One programme out-of-the-box. Now the phone is getting Android 9 Pie update which is great to see on the phone this old and priced below Rs 10,000.
On the camera front, the Nokia 3.1 includes a single 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. On the front, the Nokia 3.1 comes packed with an 8MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The phone is backed by a 2990mAh battery. The Nokia phone also comes packed with Micro-USB, 3.5mm headphone jack, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, among other things.
Nokia Smartphones Running Android 9 Pie
HMD Global now has the most number of smartphones running Android 9 Pie software. The journey started with the Nokia 7 Plus and it's continuing. There are only a few smartphones left in HMD's lineup which are still on older Android Oreo. It will be interesting to see when the remaining phones get the Android 9 Pie update. Earlier, HMD confirmed that all of its phones would be updated to Android 9 Pie by May 2019.
