On Wednesday, Mozilla officially announced Firefox Lite with the aim to serve the users with limited data. With Mozilla Firefox Lite, the company basically wants to fulfil user’s needs for a fast and lightweight mobile browsing in India. For the Firefox Lite Mozilla has entered into strategic partnerships with Times Internet and DB Digital with the hope to deliver best-in-class content to the users. Additionally, Mozilla has also partnered with MoMagic, a leading intelligent marketing company, to expand its reach to more and more users across in the country.

Commenting on the release of the Mozilla Firefox Lite, Joe Cheng, Head of Product Mozilla Asia said, “India is the second largest online market worldwide and a mobile-first country and is projected to grow to 666.4 million in 2023. Majority of India’s Internet users are mobile phone Internet users who take advantage of entry-level alternatives to expensive landline connections that require desktop PCs and infrastructure. This presents us with a huge opportunity to empower them with better than ever mobile browsing experiences.”

What is Mozilla Firefox?

The all new Mozilla Firefox Lite is a fast and lightweight Android browser and measures even less than 4MB in size. The company says that the browser also comes with several privacy-focused browsing features. One of Firefox Lite's standout features is ‘Turbo Mode’ which basically blocks third-party trackers. The company says that the Turbo Mode renders less data consumption and websites load much faster.

Another key highlight of Firefox Lite is its size. It measures less than 4MB which in comparison is less than 10% of the size compared to other browsers available in the market right now. “Given its lightweight, users can stay updated on latest offerings from Firefox Lite without worrying about spending a lot of data to update the app,’ the company notes. In addition, the Mozilla Private also comes with private browsing and tracking protection which help users browse without a trace.

“We continue to focus on providing tools and capabilities to our users and are always on a quest to discover and engage with newer partners to make our platform more agile. We aim to make Firefox Lite not just the best app for browsing and searching online but make it more engaging for our users and offer quality content such as news, games, shopping, travel deals and more,” added Joe Cheng.

Right now, the Firefox Lite is now available in 15 markets in Asia including Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
