Coolpad A1 and Mega 4A Entry-Level Smartphones Launched in India

Chinese phone maker Coolpad announced two new budget smartphones in India. The company said the Coolpad A1 and Coolpad Mega 4A are both offline exclusive products. Priced at Rs 5,499 and Rs 4,299 respectively, the Coolpad A1 and Mega 4A will be available for purchase from April 12, 2018, onwards at 3000 multi-brand stores across eight states - Delhi NCR, Haryana, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Also, the smartphones will be available in Gold colour option only.

Coolpad A1

The Coolpad A1 comes sporting a 5-inch Full HD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the handset packs the Snapdragon 210, a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor paired with 2GB of RAM. It packs 16GB of onboard storage and is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card.

The smartphone has an 8MP rear camera sensor along with an LED flash and a 5MP front camera sensor. The Coolpad A1 is fueled by a 2500mAh battery that is touted to deliver up to 240 hours of standby time. The dual-SIM phone comes with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, and GPS/ A-GPS connectivity options. The device runs on Android Nougat 7.1 operating system and is priced at Rs 5499.

Commenting on the launch, Syed Tajuddin, CEO, Coolpad India, said "To make a formidable presence in the offline market in India we are looking forward to introducing some competitive offline-exclusive devices. These devices will offer a good value proposition to the customers". He also promised more Coolpad devices in upcoming two to three months.

Coolpad Mega 4A

The Coolpad Mega 4A too sports a 5-inch full HD display of 280 x 720 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC9832 SoC, coupled with 1GB of RAM. Once again the device comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card slot.

In terms of optics, the Coolpad Mega 4A offers a 5MP camera sensor on the back and a 2MP front camera. Besides, the smartphone is backed up by a 2000mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 150 hours of standby time. It also includes support for dual SIM, but it is not known yet if it comes with a hybrid slot or not. The smartphone runs Android 7.1 Nougat and will be available starting April 12 for Rs 4299 across all the above-mentioned states. That said, we recently reported the Coolpad Mega 4A's launch in India as Rs 5,999, but the smartphone's price is Rs 4,299.
