The LTE-only network Reliance Jio continues to show an increase in the average speed department. According to the latest data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the new entrant has recorded an average download speed of 18.48 Mbps, which is the operator’s highest average speed till date.
Jio’s average download speed has been increased by 2Mbps from what it has achieved in February at 16.487Mbps. Following Reliance Jio is Bharti Airtel with average download speed of 9.136Mbps down from 10.439Mbps recorded in February. Vodafone India is slightly below Airtel with 9.003Mbps average speed, which is followed by Idea at 8.885Mbps.
Well, Jio is leading the average download speed department, whereas the network is not the best for uploading content as it has the least upload speed than all the other 4G network operators in the country. Vodafone has the highest average upload speed of 6.42Mbps followed by Idea with 6.08Mbps. Both Airtel and Jio have similar average upload speeds of 4.221 and 4.227Mbps respectively.
All the numbers mentioned above are for 4G, and when we look at the 3G speeds, Vodafone India is leading yet again with an average download speed of 3.7Mbps, followed by Airtel with 3.4Mbps speed. Idea Cellular has just over 2Mbps average 3G download speed, while BSNL has almost 2Mbps speed, which is underwhelming.
The 3G average upload speeds, which are yet again led by Vodafone with 1.73Mbps, followed by Tata DoCoMo (1.6Mbps), Idea (1.43Mbps), Airtel (1.36Mbps), and BSNL (1.0Mbps).
This data has been taken from TRAI My Speed application, with a total of over one million tests been made across the country in March. Clearly, Reliance Jio is still leading the 4G data speed in the country, amidst all the allegations surrounding the operator.
Almost every report on the Indian 4G networks has claimed that Airtel is the best network of the country including Open Signal and Ookla. But, TRAI’s reports over the months have been suggesting Jio as the fastest network.
