TataSky the leading DTH operator who is always ahead of the competition on account of its constant innovation has yet again given a reason to its subscribers to rejoice. The operator will be activating a service called Push video on demand (VoD) for its HD set top box subscribers totally free of cost from tomorrow 22nd July.

The Video on demand service has this far been limited only to the HD PVR and transfer set top box through an internet connection to the set top box over ethernet or using a wifi dongle, this was true VoD wherein the videos that the subscriber wished to view were to be selected and then downloaded onto the set top box over the internet connection. The HD set top boxes do not have any provision for an internet connection which is why TataSky has launched this new service called push VoD wherein TataSsy will push the video content directly through the satellite onto the set top boxes without the need for an internet connection.

All that the subscriber needs to do starting tomorrow is to connect a blank pen drive of capacity ranging from 8 GB to 64 GB into a vacant USB port on his HD set top box and give a missed call on 09202292022.  TataSky will detect the pen drive on the set top box and format it and push the video content which can then be viewed by the subscriber. New content will be pushed onto the pen drive every 7 days and the old content will automatically be erased. Video content will range from recorded TV shows to movies to knowledge videos.

If you are a TataSky subscriber, let us know your experience with this service through comments once it goes live.
