Idea cellular will be launching its 3G services in New Delhi next year . It will be using its own network to do so which will help it keep a tab on the costs. It will also cut down its 3G data rates in order to attract more customers to take the fight on to the likes of Vodafone and Airtel.
The 900 MHz spectrum that it won back in February this year during the auctions will be used for it and Idea expects that the roll out will begin in December. It paid Rs 3704.8 crores for the same so it will be aiming to make the most of it.
Till now, Idea subscribers were using 3G in Delhi courtesy of its intra-circle pact with Airtel and Vodafone. Offering services through its own network will give the operator a wider degree of control over the telecom services it will be offering.
Expansion of circles and cutting down of tariffs will surely help Idea gain a bigger share of the market.
