Microsoft's attempt to grab the tablet market share with Surface tablet didn't turn out successful but they have not lost confidence. As per the latest reports, Microsoft have started sending out invitations to a private press event in New York on May 20. The press invite mentions about "a small gathering". Also the invitation had "Microsoft Surface" branding might hint towards a Surface Mini tablet. This tablet might be directly targeted towards Apple's iPad Mini. Microsoft's new CEO, Satya Nadella might preside over the event.
Rumours about a Surface tablet with 8.9 inch screen have been doing the rounds for quire some time now. People have been preferring 7 and 8 inch tablets over the 10 inch ones. Last year, almost all the brands selling tablet devices have released tablets with 7 to 9 inch screens such as Apple iPad Mini, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and LG G Pad 8.3.
