Videocon Launches GSM Mobile Service In Chennai

Videocon, the GSM Mobile Service of Videocon Telecommunications Ltd today announced the launch of its Mobile services in Chennai-Tamilnadu.

The operator also said that the commercial services will be available from 27 March 2010 in Chennai and  in the next fortnight, Videocon GSM services will be launched in key cities across Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai telecom circle.




The GSM Prepaid Sim-Kit of Videocon Mobile Services will be available from 27th March 2010 across the Chennai and it costs Rs.49 with the talk-time of Rs 5.With First Recharge of Rs.31 Subscriber can enjoy Rs.25 of Talk-Value Plus Pay-per-second billing tariff and also Rs.75 as bonus talk-value as a promotional offer.

Speaking on the launch of Mobile Services in Chennai, Mr.Venugopal Dhoot Chairman of Videocon Group said that "The company will roll out services in 100 cities in as many days and the tariff rates are likely to be below one paise." Mr Dhoot also said that "We want to be the top 3 service provider in the country over the next three years and to fulfill this, our plan is to invest Rs 14,000 crore in this business over the next three years."

Videocon Telecommunications Ltd has UAS licenses for all the 23 circles across India and as per its announcement it would be pan-India operator by September 2010.The operator which has already launched GSM servcies in Coimbatore (Tamilnadu) and it is in the process of setting up 70,000 base stations in the country, of which 3,000 are already operational in Tamil Nadu telecom circle.
