Uninor Launches GSM Service in 7 Circle, Local Call 29p

Uninor Launches GSM Service in 7 Circle, Local Call 29pUnitech Wireless, a telecom venture of the realty major Unitech Group and Norway’s telecom operator Telenor, has launched its GSM mobile service in 7 telecom circle simultaneously in the circles with the tagline of “Ab Mera Number Hain .The Seven telecom circles are Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh East, Uttar Pradesh West and Bihar (including Jharkhand).Uninor Life Time prepaid card will cost Rs.49 with talk time of Rs.5 and it is available across the 7 circle from today.

Uninor also launches one Callmore@29paisa tariff plan.

Uninor’s parent company Telenor’s CEO & President Jon Fredrik Baksaas said that this is the fastest rollout we have ever done, because the business model has become standardized. We are here to stay for a long time, and there is no reason why India should lag in mobile density in Asia, and we hope to contribute. In Telenor, we know that increased telecom density spurs economic development.

The launch of Uninor mobile service marked significant milestone for our joint venture,” the day following the launch Uninor will make a big impact in the streets across India, when close to 30 000 persons join the “blue wave”- parade to celebrate that Uninor services are available to the Indian people” said Sanjay Chandra MD Unitech Wireless.

Noway uninor can survive with its current tariffs, as Tata indicom pay per call just one rupee per ten minutes, Mts with daily rental of one rupee for 2 seconds/1 paise, others like docomo, aircel, idea offering same under Rs.54 rental, Virgin 30 paise/minute with only one rupee rental and above all S tel offering with pay per second with voucher rs 1499/365 days at 60 minutes everyday amounting 7 paise/minute even daily voucher of 9 rupees averages only 15 paise/minute. Soon, Uninor realise their mistake of initiation and then it would be too late, with their tariff of Rs.2 rental and 39 paise call setup charge.

myuninor called wap and gprs not yet launched if one put “UNINOR” as apn it says invalid access point” in nokia handsets and if we put anything else in Apn field it says subscribe to packet data first” while G symbol is showing in fone
isd calls to gulf countries only Rs. 6.40
sms to other operators local 10 paisa after sending 1 sms at 99 paise and uni to uni 99 sms free there is no packs to reduce call rates except gulf pack which is available at Rs.31
no sms packs yet dialling some other operator series still not possible customer care is so innocent no need to dance on IVR just choose language and go to customer care and it holds approximately 3 or 4 minutes

Fist min will be 39p and second mins will be 29p For the every call it is looks like some wat reliance tarrif pay per call 1re/ 3min.. but sms wis not quite comfortable… BUt all company accepts second billing … but uninor was not select that one tht may be a draw back for the company.. advertisemenst and website was so good… Unless if u alter plans.. u can stabilice in the market… bocz MNP is comming in to process…with in few days. consumer can feel swith off some network if u wanna to retain them some little bit alternative to be dont in daily rental and sms packs.. u can also offer some uninor to uninor free call…daily /per week/ for month…. main thing roaming rates…should in control..

Airtel is one of the worst network. Why because:

1Half of the days i won’t get coverage.

Whenever calling customer care, all the times they will give some gross date, but.. never problem will solve. (I given more than 10 complaints about coverage issues, but no responce from network provider)

If we talk with customer care loudly, they will bare our number to customer care.

Compare to BSNL, Vodafone, Aircel networks Airtel connectivity is poor in TN.

Airtel having more call drop ratio. Call will go and the person will attend the call but……. we won’t hear the voice.

At present, best network is BSNL only (network, quality, price also almost similar to other network 1p/s for won network and 1.2p/s for other network).

In my place i/ we (friends) won’t get network coverage of Airtel (It will never connect our self in to the world)

Analysts said the tariff plans were more expensive compared with other operators.

“Although local call rates are 29 paise, there is an additional fee which takes the total cost of a call to around 70 paise per minute, which is higher than some operators who are charging 30-60 paise per minute.”

Justifying the high tariff plans, Telenor Group CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas said, “Our target market is mid-to-high- end customers.”

Telenor is also staying away from the per-second billing plan that most operators have recently announced. “Per-second billing is not necessarily a feature customers are looking for,” he said.

    From Telegraph India(http://www.telegraphindia.com/1091204/jsp/business/story_11820485.jsp)

wtf, telenor thinks european market is same as Indian market, here high end users also moves to cheaper ones !!!!

thanx abhi. to b precise first call charge is 39+29 = 68 ps/min
secondly. difference in uninor is first min of EVERY CALL is charged unlike idea or virgin where only first min or first 3 mins of the dAY r charged.
however, i think aircel had such plans like first min at 1 rs, 2nd min rate of 75 ps n 3rd min at 30 ps.

so both plans like first call at 68 ps or 2 rs daily rental r not attractive.

Call setup charge seems to be a whole new concept to Indian telecom market which consumers here wont digest at all..

Yes… That call setup $hit is RIDICULOUS… Have you ever calculated HOW MANY CALLS U have made IN A DAY, Lasts more than a minute???

    Abhi :
    @Anuj
    No it is not..
    Just a new name..
Remeber,Virgin introduced Local and STD @50p/min post three minutes per day??
And to be more precise,Aircel’s 123 plan.
call charges used to be very less third minute onwards..

Both are NOT SAME dear friend… The call setup $hit has to be paid for the FIRST MINUTE OF ALL CALLS MADE, not just the first call as offered by Virgin/Idea… For example, If you are making 10 calls a day, then ALL THE CALL SETUP $hit is 10x39p=Rs3.90 + 29pCALL CHARGE, whereas in Virgin/Idea, the first call was 1Re/min and all 9 calls will be 29p/min…

But ONE THING FOR SURE…. All operators are fearing about MNP including Reliance… But UNINOR need not fear about MNP, since they will have very very few customers (with these tariffs now) at the time of MNP…

They should immediately make change to their tariffs…

uninor dot in website info is confusing. call set up charges ???

moreover, 2 rs daily rental n the call rate of 29 ps/min.
comparing it with reliance or others having 49-50/min rates. so approximately 20 ps/min is less compared to others. now if u call for more than 10 mins a day, then only u recover ur 2 rs rental. else uninor customer pay more than rel customers.

else reliance or others r beneficial coz of 2 rs rental.

instead idea has plan (!) of 40 ps/min with first min of the day at standard rate (may b 1 re/min). that wud b better.

Uninor said that its plans suit best when the user makes more than 4 calls a day and whose call duration on an average is around 100 seconds. The company says that the per second pricing does not suits each and every subscriber and may prove to be costly to some segment of the subscribers.

They shud knw the needs of youth and by knwng they shud have cm out wid the plans suitng youth’s/students needs……but no they came out with daily rental sh*t…come out wid unlimtd gprs and low cal rate to own netwrk or unlimitd calng…
    All the best

i wud prefer reliance any day over this uninor. new players have to create sme excitment like docomo as building infrastructure in short time isnt possible. Docomo play its cards very well..but i feel no one can beat vodafone, airtel and relaince

Very good 1p/2 sec local and STD on its own network 1P/sec on other.
Local 29p/min and STD 49p/min with monthly rental of 60 very good. This could not be costly. If want to compare please compare with both Local and STD call charges.

there are two possibilities one can think of after seeing this tariff…EITHER uninor is going to be a long term, good quality service provider. then they would keep the price at the same level. they would not resort to ridiculous and mindless discounting…OR, they may get aggressive after the MNP comes in. they will keep on taking the singles till that time and bat like SEHWAG only after MNP comes in.

Doesn’t like the plan…. Sec pulse as usual… The 29 ps local and 49 ps STD sans daily rental would have been good for uninor to start with… Let’s see how they attract new customers… Goodluck uninor………

Uninor will play cards after few days of launch. With the current tariffs they will not get good response. But it is GSM unlike MTS which is CDMA.
Uninor will perform well in INDIA if it give same tariffs as MTS as it is worlds 6th largest operator even higher than Airtel

    Tagore Varma :
This is Eropean tariff, not Indian one. In Norvey, they have hardly the population of less than one district in our great India. There they are justified for hihg rates of tariff as even the per capita income is 10 times that of our’s. There will be no takers if they choose to be expesnive on tariff and expect high volumes in incomes. Bad planning, Uninor!

    I agree !

personally i don’t like this daily rental model..so i think their tariff plans are not so attractive..and uninor is costly than other operators(even airtel & vodafone)..uninor has a value pack-I save long STD-mins @ daily rental of re. 1 which offers STD calls @ 2/3mins(means 0.67/min).even airtel, vodafone offers 50p/min STD @Rs.30-50 for 1year..

their plans not at all attractive since we expect something good from a new operator…for everything they charge daily rental…they have to offer better plans inorder to get users…
