Uninor added the maximum number of subscribers across Mumbai with more than 34,967 new customers embracing Uninor services in May 2012 (as per COAI May 2012 report).
Uninor’s total subscriber base across the circle is now close to 15 Lakhs. Uninor’s strong performance continues across India too. The company added more than1.5 million new subscribers across its 13 commercial circles in May and has thereby emerged as the 3rd most preferred GSM brand across the country.
Despite being the youngest telecom operator, Uninor has proved itself as a successful competitor across the country. Since the launch of its services, Uninor has competed successfully in all its commercial circles, adding more subscribers than any other mobile operator in India in 2011.
In the 13 circles where Uninor operates it has added around 17.8 million customers last year, more than any operator in India. In doing so, Uninor has ensured that a mobile phone service is affordable for everyone. In Mumbai itself, 4.3 lakh customers chose Uninor last year.
“Uninor continues to remain the most value-for-money mobile service for consumers in the Mumbai circle, and indeed across India. In Mumbai, our STV 22 which offers Uninor to Uninor calls at just 2 paisa per minute and STV 21 which offers all local calls at 30 paisa per minute are still the most attractive plans for customers. This in turn has helped us outperform most of the other larger and established operators in the circle. It is evident now that people of Mumbai are making the smarter choice by choosing affordability and continue to prefer Uninor as their mobile service provider,” said Mr. Upanga Dutta – Circle Business Head, Mumbai

if the airtel-voda-idea lobby is killing the scope of foreign operator make sure nthey die else if uninor survive the triple tragedy(ditching unitech+cancellation of license+exorbant price for new bidding) they prove fatal for the avil(airtel voda idea ) axis in india.

@Saurabh
Good biased analysis against uninor:-)
But uninor is here to stay and give us innovative plans. You cant tell the taste of anything without tasting it. Uninor is not in Haryana…Lets see the things in future..

It means if uninor doesn’t participate in auction who will going to win pan india licence govt says two companies easily win back their licence, in my view 1. Videocon and another idea(in some circle). So what happened to other circles???
STEL,LOOP are not going to bid. MTS is a CDMA player.
plz help anyone to sort out this problem.

I’m not associated with or working for any telecom operator. I’m talking independently and talking about Uninor i.e Indian subsidiary of Telenor and not Telenor International. I know Telenor is a widely experienced company and is world’s No.3 telecommunication company in terms of subscriber base after China Mobile and Vodafone but what to do with that. We have their operations in India and we will talk about the facts within this geographical area which is clearly suggesting at this company’s exit.
Nobody will move out of country to have world class experience by Telenor being provided in other countries i.e in Norway or Middle East or Pakistan.
You are among the ones who continuously post the same single line i.e Uninor is here to stay. but don’t have enough facts to justify your saying. It will be better if you enlighten yourself about the company’s situation, political interference and concerns related with sector in India and why Uninor is threat to national security of our country OR keep using the same line. Please do some research instead of talking like a noob.
What you guys are thinking that Uninor will continue to provide cheaper tariffs at their own cost? Not at all. Company is not in a situation to bid for pan-India license at such a high cost set by TRAI and they can’t bid even if amount is halved. They covered only 13 circles out of 22 as they weren’t able to raise funds. Current scenario suggests that company will not be able to retain their licenses in upcoming 2G auction. But in any case, they do, they will have to provide tariffs as high as 1.5p/s to recover the cost which will include spectrum charge and also network expansion cost.
Stakeholder/shareholders are pushing Telenor Norway, the parent company, to exit India a.s.a.p as they don’t see any profits and like any other company Telenor also invested in India with the aim of profits. Foreign telcos bought majority stakes in new telecom entrants as they found it a multi-bagger opportunity but honorable Supreme Court of India turned their dreams down. They keep on saying that we have a long term view in India but things are different within the company.

It seems you are working for a telecom operater. Telenor has 150years of experiance and widely used opera software was developed in telenor R&D lab. Telenor will definetely stay in India. All the best uninor…

Some correction in last post. It’s someone had said instead of some had said.
In last line it’s bid adieu instead of aid. T9 problem.
I have seen many replies here calling Airtel best network provider but unfortunately in Haryana it is worst like BSNL in terms of both network and QoS. Airtel is No.6 in terms of subscriber base in Haryana after Vodafone, Reliance, Idea, Tata Docomo and BSNL. I’ll rank Airtel QoS even below Tata Docomo and Aircel. Airtel signal keep on dancing i.e fluctuating even if you are within 300 meters of tower. But in Punjab, HP, Delhi and some other circles it is quiet good.
Saurabh June 27, 2012 at 8:30 pm
Some had said, “Quality comes at a cost”
As per an insider information available with me, Uninor has only 43 percent of active users and company will exit India, doesn’t matter whatever base price Govt fixes for auction. They are looking for breakeven of their investment and providing good offers to reach their target as quickly as possible. Once it happens, they will not give a second thought to continuing operations in India.
Btw, you can’t expect operator like Uninor or Videocon or even Aircel North which provide cheaper tariffs to offer good network as to strengthen network or expand it you require funds. As per latest reports of Uninor for quarter ending March, 2012 their ARPU i.e Average Revenue Per User stands at Rs.95 only i.e 10 NOK which is less than half of what Airtel/Idea/Vodafone has and they have got large customer base also against small companies like Uninor.
As far as MTS is concerned, Govt will somehow find a way to keep them afloat as India don’t want to risk their relation with Russia but it’s not same for Uninor which comes from a small country like Norway and they don’t have much investment in India in different sectors like Russia. Even some people in Govt department don’t want Uninor to stay are doing their best to aid adieu to them.
Gowrishankar June 27, 2012 at 6:33 pm
Hello Buddies,
BSNL have strong and good network coverage and they introduced a good offer all local calls will be 1paise for 2 seconds.. where airtel and vodafone not having this plan…
kankan June 27, 2012 at 6:16 pm
No company in India provides both good network and tariff,
Uninor having very very poor network in kolkata thats why they give good tariff and airtel which provides good network all over India thats why costly. Now it is upto us to whom to choose, no company is bad only their policy makes difference.
rohith June 27, 2012 at 6:07 pm
Aircel gives 1/2 paise per sec to local mobiles only @ Rs 46 for 3 months and if recharged with Rs 90 full talktime plus same benefit for 90 days
Gourav June 27, 2012 at 4:35 pm
but when will uninor launch their services in haryana?
Sayan Chattopadhyay June 27, 2012 at 4:09 pm
uninor is my most preferred brand!
raj June 27, 2012 at 3:48 pm
@Esmail
no operator is going to give 30p/min for 90days at that cost.
Arka June 27, 2012 at 3:07 pm
in Kolkata,The ,most attractive plans are-
Rs.63-78000sec/30days.
Rs.28-2s/1p-90days.
Rs.27-100sms/day for 30 days.
Full TT-from RS.32.
Himangshu June 27, 2012 at 2:19 pm
When this service provider will give services in Assam ???
Esmail June 27, 2012 at 1:57 pm
STV 21 offering 30p/min with 30 day validity doesn’t seem attractive to me, if they are offering STV 27 which would give 1p/2sec with 90 day validity I would be interested, keeping in mind that their Network strength is weak in Mumbai and penetration within buildings is poor.
anand yadav June 27, 2012 at 1:13 pm
