MTNL Launches Landline Video Telephony Service in Mumbai and Delhi

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL)  today launched it’s Voice and Video Telephony service on Broadband - VVoBB in Mumbai and Delhi telecom circle. MTNL's Video Telephony service dubbed as  “VFone” launched in an event in Mumbai with inaugural video call by Mr. Kapil Sibal, Minister of Communication.

The MTNL VVOIP service plans starts from Rs.699 per month with 1000 free minutes (700+300) While Unlimited Plan will costs Rs.1999 per month. The detailed tariff charges for all domestic and International calls are available on MTNL website.

This service also provides all the industry standard Class 5 features like Call Hold, Call Transfer, Do Not Disturb, Call Forward, Mute, Caller ID / Name Display or Block, Call Waiting, Call Waiting Caller ID, 3-Way Conferencing, Call Log, Video Phone Book, Off Hook Auto Dial, Auto Answer, Early Dial and Speed Dial, Redial, Volume Control, Visual Message / Voice-mail Indicator, Down-loadable Custom Music Ring Tones, etc.

The main highlight of this service is that any customer can make audio and video calls at will on any landline, mobile or IP phone anywhere in the world (except India), provided both the ends have requisite video phone equipment and if video phone equipment is available at only one end, only voice call can happen. Within India, a customer can make only IP to IP calling within MTNL-BSNL network. MTNL has launched this service in partnership with Sai InfoSystem (India) Ltd. (SIS).

Video Telephony service is already available in whole North and West zones of the country, which comprises the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP, Goa, Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai), Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himanchal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and J&K with BSNL. MTNL is now providing this service in the metros of Delhi and Mumbai.
