Bharti Airtel announced the launch of 3G Mobile and Data services in Kolkata telecom circle. Airtel 3G services will be available in Kolkata starting midnight on 4th August 2011.
Delivering the High Speed 3G Mobile Broadband and Video Calling experience to customers in Kolkata circle , Airtel 3G services are now available across key locations in the city.
By Midnight – 4th August 2011 , Airtel customers in Kolkata - the city of joy. will now be able to join the 3-million-strong base of customers in India that are already leveraging the Airtel 3G advantage to experience a host of exciting capabilities.
To activate the 3G service on Airtel subscribers need to send a SMS 3G to 121. After sending the SMS the confirmation SMS will come and 2G Data Plan will be de-activated. After the confirmation by subscriber 3G Data Plan “Pay As You Go” will be activated and all data access will be charged at 30p / 20kb.

Airtel is the 6th operator in the city to offer 3G services, after BSNL, Reliance, Aircel, Vodafone and Idea. Both Airtel and Idea 3G services are offered over Vodafone's 3G network. Expect Tata Docomo soon to join the 3G gang of the city via Aircel network.
