Every mobile operators in India are in a cash crisis situation, and Aircel is in much crisis after going after 3G spectrum in 13 circles and 4G spectrum in 8 circles. Aircel has already scaled down operations in certain circles to reduce operational expenditures.

But in an interesting move Aircel is going to shut down postpaid offerings in Kerala, as per official report with effect from 31st Decemeber 2012 Aircel’s postpaid mobile services will be no longer available. We are not sure how many postpaid customers Aircel has in Kerala circle, but we believe the number is too low to continue for Aircel.
Earlier we got several reports that Aircel’s recharges for prepaid customers are not available from the retailers but now it is known that Aircel is restructuring its business model in Kerala and for that the inconvenience has been happened. Aircel informed that online recharges are valid for Kerala’s Aircel numbers. We are not sure what kind of new business model is going to set up for Aircel. But it is expected that Aircel is going to integrate all of its services -2G, 3G and 4G under one roof. There is no concrete time or plans from Aircel regarding its BWA/4G/LTE-TDD launch.
From our sources we heard similar upcoming strategy from some other operators that they are also not very much interested in postpaid segment. Spending behind a postpaid customer is more than a prepaid customers, and most people prefer prepaid over postpaid. There is no sense of allotting special customer care, billing system, shipping cost of bills, unpaid bills and the hassle to collect unpaid bills. Newer operators like Stel & Cheers (both are now shut down), Videocon and Uninor has no postpaid offerings.

Those who speak bad about Aircel just remember aircel was the 1st one who started to provide cheap gprs plans like 14rs/ 98rs unlimited etc 6/7years back when others plan were unaffordable at cheapest being 10p/10kb, even now they are giving 2g unltd when airtel n others giv like 650mb only at 98, they were also 1st to provide 3g bundled/2g ultd plans at affordable prices (starting at 8rs) which no other operator provides even now below 600to700 rs.
No doubt they hav bad coverag, but I think it is better than self proclaimed docomo/reliance gsm etc
Best in terms of plans for aam aadmi (especially data)
Aircel please come back

I can’t find Aircel network in my area

Aircel has fooled all the customers of kerala. No message about the service stoppage. Strange fact is media and trai is silent about this cheating done by aircel. Even TT have no exact posting about this. I think the add of Aircel keeps TT also quiet.

Its coverage will not even come near to BSNL.
BSNL provides coverage at almost all the remote places
.
But customer care and complaint registration is WORST
.
What to do?. We can use BSNL as secondary number when we travel / stay at remore area(s). Thats all.

So Far People are Recommending Prepaid Than Post Paid Because Nowadays People Like To Use Data/Voice By Paying Money and Not By Bills and Even it Might Be Applicable For Corporate Sector Within A Few Years
Arjun Chandrashekar December 15, 2012 at 12:14 pm
So Far The Company Needs to Improve Services and The Coverage and Majority Problems With The Quality of Services and I Met An Aircel Ex- Professional Who Told That The Broadband Services are offered from BSNL and Not By Aircel and Company is Not Having High Qualified Professionals Where Airtel and Other Operators are Having and The Biggest Major Minus Point is Most Of All Working Professional of Aircel Studied B.Arts, B.Commerce and B.B.M and Not B.Science / B.E

Asit Paul December 15, 2012 at 11:18 am
You can Roam across Assam and North-East without any problem. However, prepaid Roaming is not allowed in/out J&K.

Aircel is Not A Problem @ All if Survives, Better DOCOMO Gets To Rid Off From Telecom Since DOCOMO is Having Pathetic Coverage than that Of Aircel
raahan December 15, 2012 at 9:59 am
even in Maharashtra circle we can’t use internet in Docomo network when I spoke cc they said they have stop there internet service by using another network
Jaweed Abdul December 15, 2012 at 9:18 am
Aircel stores closed in many parts of andhra pradesh
Tharun George December 15, 2012 at 7:32 am
Aircel has already stopped its GPRS service temporarily and also many STVs in Kerala. Also heard they are laying off many employees and closing many outlets in Kerala.
Looks like Aircel is going to a ultra low cost model with only one office in kerala. I think its a good move to reduce cost significantly while still offering essential service.
Recession has now hit telecom companies. All other operators are hiking Tariff and now employee layoff.
Raghu December 15, 2012 at 10:22 pm
Yes it is good model to keep only one office and make all options available in online and also the Online customercare should be made available instead of that and they have to put more towers in kerala as well as in Andhra Pradesh.
alok mishra December 15, 2012 at 7:16 am
what about mp sir ? is it also closing in mp or here it also restructing its bussiness model ? please reply..
Asit Paul December 15, 2012 at 7:15 am
Aircel should wind up its business and go back to Malaysia. Too much bad service. Looting money from innocent users with activating vas services.
@TT:
Why you listed it under AirTel although its under Aircel?
raj December 17, 2012 at 5:01 pm
Iam with aircel for more than 1yr.no balance deduction or vas activation or cc calls for offers like airtel /voda/docomo.
joe January 8, 2013 at 2:29 pm
Had a good experience with aircel nice offers, good customer care but now had to port as no data offer even through online. Hope they get everything in order.
Alamgir December 15, 2012 at 7:07 am
Considering their disgusting network and customer supprt I would like them (Aircel) to surrender their 3G licence for Karnataka Circle to Idea cellular. Even if Aircel shuts their shop in Karnataka, that would be a welcome move. Hope they read this comment.
ARJUN CHANDRASHEKAR December 15, 2012 at 10:09 pm
SO FAR IDEA IS USING AIRTEL 3G WHICH IS MOST PATHETIC OPERATOR OF KARNATAKA NOWADAYS. EVEN IN MY HOME/IN BANGALORE CITY I’M NOT ABLE TO ACCESS AIRTEL 3G IN INDOOR, WHERE AIRCEL 3G AND BSNL 3G ARE ACCESSIBLE IN INDOORS. AND AIRCEL’S COVERAGE PATH IS AVERAGE IN KARNATAKA.
Parthiban k December 15, 2012 at 3:14 am
Aircel is the most Innovative company in india first to give unlimited internet sms lifetime validity cheapest 3g plans still cheaper one i know a aircel postpaid customer who gets an average bill of 1000? but he will only pay 500? and he will tells i will pay balance in next month aircel is the best in most case they should get better respect
