Xiaomi Redmi 7A will be launching in India on July 4, confirmed the company on social media portal Twitter. The Redmi 7A will come as a successor to the Redmi 6A that was launched in India back in September 2018. Notably, the Redmi 7A is already available for purchase in China and it's making into the Indian market ahead of the Redmi K20 series. Earlier today, Flipkart also created a landing page confirming that the Redmi 7A will be a Flipkart Exclusive smartphone. Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi K20 series in India later this month and the Redmi 7A' sudden launch announcement comes as a surprise to many. Maybe the company wants to celebrate the impressive 23.6 million Redmi A series sales with the Redmi 7A launch in India. Xiaomi is teasing the Redmi 7A with #smartdeshkasmartphone, which also hints the aggressive price tag the phone may carry.
Xiaomi Redmi 7A: Specifications and Features
The Redmi 7A is a major upgrade over the Redmi 6A which featured MediaTek Helio A22 chipset. The Redmi 7A has the same 5.45-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution, but internally, we get to see a lot of upgrades. Underneath, the Redmi 7A comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset, paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and up to 32GB of internal storage. The phone also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB.
Like its predecessors, the Redmi 7A also lacks a fingerprint scanner. As for the cameras, we get a 13MP shooter on the back and a 5MP shooter on the front for selfies and video calls. The handset boots Android 9 Pie out of the box and it has MIUI 10 on top. Lastly, the major highlight of the Redmi 7A is its beefy 4000mAh battery, which is 33% bigger than the one we saw on the Redmi 6A, Redmi 5A and Redmi 4A smartphones.
Xiaomi Redmi 7A: Expected Pricing in India
The Redmi 7A comes in multiple variants in China and the pricing starts at 549 Yuan (approx. Rs 5,500). In India, we might see the phone launching in two variants- 2GB+16GB and 3GB+32GB and the prices may start at Rs 5,999. If the phone gets the Rs 5,999 price tag, then the Redmi 7A will kill the competition, especially the Realme C2 that's available at the same Rs 5,999.
That being said, we might see increased prices this time around considering the hardware of Redmi 7A. With the Redmi 7 priced at Rs 7,999, the price of Rs 6,999 is empty right now and the Redmi 7A could well fit into that. Even at Rs 6,999 for the base variant, the Redmi 7A offers sheer value for money. The phone is launching in India on July 4, so stay tuned for the official pricing and availability details.
